Behind the Scenes

When watching one of Viblzz's videos in his most popular series, you see cinematic shots of large groups of players engaging in epic battles and chaos in hopes to win the prize money. What you don't see--is what it takes to get there.

In Viblzz's videos, there are a series of processes to reach that moment of glory:

Organization

  1. Creating a Discord Server with all necessary text and voice channels required to run the event smoothly.

  2. Inviting a team of staff into the discord server to moderate messages.

  3. Creating a list of players to message using Fortnite Tracker.

  4. Tweeting the video announcement on Twitter as a form of promotion.

  5. Messaging 500-1000 players on Twitter, pitching the video idea.

  6. Inviting Players to Discord Server, giving them proper roles they will need to participate in the video and informing them of the instructions for the video. This is done until there are 100 participants ready to play. In some cases, Viblzz recruits 30-50 backup players in case some are unable to attend.

  7. Hosting the event using a custom matchmaking code on Fortnite.​​

  8. ​Once the event has taken place, announcing the winning team, and paying out prize pools to the winning team.

Production

  1. Organizing footage into a drive folder, and instructing participants to upload their recordings.

  2. Scripting the video in a way that will effectively and efficiently intrigue the viewer.

  3. Recording Replay shots within the Fortnite Replay system. These shots are the cinematic shots that can be seen within Viblzz's videos.

  4. ​Recording the voiceover for the narrative portions of the video.

  5. Creating a document with the instructions for the editor. This consists of labeled footage/clips matched strategically with various parts of the voiceover/script, describing any additional instructions such as editing effects or other inspired ideas.

  6. ​Hiring an editor to edit the video, and sending them the drive folder with the footage, script, voiceovers, and instructions. 

Marketing

  1. Brainstorming Thumbnail concepts​ and Thumbnail-Title packages (a thumbnail and title that complement one another).

  2. Hiring Thumbnail designer​ to create the Thumbnail.

  3. Creating a Description for the video.

  4. Scheduling the video to post.

  5. Promoting the video on Twitter, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok.
